Is it just me or is steampunk fandom been picking up steam these days? ....OK...Ok...bad joke and if you had this cool Steampunk Nerf gun I'd let you shoot me.
RUN FASTER....ZOMBIES ARE CHASING YOU! You’re in a helicopter flying over a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested wasteland, heading towards a small outpost of survivors known as Abel Township. Your mission is top secret. All of a sudden, a figure appears out of the woods toting a rocket launcher and shoots your aircraft down. Sure we’ve got our futuristic tablet PCs and 3D televisions and body-tracking cameras, but this “future” we’re living in still seems a little lacking. Maybe it’s because the present is always boring or maybe, just maybe, it’s because there isn’t any widely available, consumer-grade, holodeck-style technology out there. Probably the latter. The See-Through 3D Desktopdeveloped byJinha Lee and Cati Boulanger, former intern and researcher respectively, atMicrosoft Applied Sciences gives the old desktop PC a striking VR twist, but its not consumer-grade. Yet.
This weekend Game Freak revealed that they were developing sequels toPokemon White and Pokemon Black. A new trailer issued today confirms that the game won't be a Japan-only release.
Blizzard announced today that it's laying off a great number of employees. In a press release from the company, CEO Mike Morhaime had the following to say:
SimCity is returning, if German magazine GameStar is to be believed. In a post on NeoGaf, images of alleged SimCity concept art have been posted, as well as a rough translation of GameStar's article on the title.

Daniel Abraham’s adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s acclaimed epic fantasy A Game of Thrones continues to cast its gripping spell. In the savage north, Jon Snow finds new friends—and enemies—among the brothers of the Night’s Watch, sworn to defend Westeros against the horrors that lie beyond the Wall. He's already part of the Star Trek and Mission: Impossible franchises, but now geek hero Simon Pegg is living the dream and playing a Star Wars character. EW.com has revealed that Pegg will voice the bounty hunter Dengar on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, as he makes his debut on this Friday's new episode, "Bounty."
April 1st can't get here soon enough...NO..no....not for April fools, but for the start of Game of Thrones Season 2. But to help ease the wait for TV Nerds, here are two new teaser posters just released.
Movie Nerds excited for the upcoming GI JOE: Retaliation are getting a treat today. A new poster freaturing Dwayne Johnson has been released, as well as a new TV Spot with about 4 seconds of new footage.
Dan Aykroyd has been looking to bring Ghostbusters 3 to life for over a decade, and real studio interest has picked up in the last few years. He’s got a script from The Office writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky (which apparently Aykroyd is still working on) that would see the original cast handing their proton packs over to some fresh-faced spirit chasers that can really appeal to the kids, with their Twitter and their Justin Bieber. Alas, his good friend Bill Murray(who, I’m told, is also an actor of some repute) is dead-set on playing party-pooper. Today, in an interview with the Telegraph, Aykroyd briefly discussed the film and Murray’s assured absence. Said Aykroyd:
It's here, it's finally here....hehee. The new trailer for Marvel's The Avengers is now online (via iTunes Movie Trailers) and can be watched using the player below! Written and directed by Joss Whedon, the May 4 release stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan SkarsgĂĄrd and Samuel L. Jackson.
I've got to be honest with you, I don't know a thing about "Hello Kitty" except.....that the fans LOVE everything Hello Kitty. Well today in "Hello Kitty Things That Somehow Exist" we get burial accessories! Death has never been... cuter? Ok, I don't know. This is just one of those odd things that you look at, question other people's sanity and move on....hehe
Today in non-cosmetic body piercings: A group of engineers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have created a way to control, well, just about anything (but most likely, things like wheelchairs) with a combination of a magnetic tongue piercing and a paired retainer. The user would press the tongue piercing against different parts of the retainer to send signals. Shift into neutral! Pretend like you're saying the word "lilt"!
All eyes are on the asteroid Apophis, but a new threat--just 460 feet wide--dominated the conversation at a recent meeting of the UN Action Team on near-Earth objects (NEOs). Known as 2011 AG5, the asteroid could well be on a collision course with Earth in 2040, and some are already calling on scientists to figure out how to deflect it.
Over the years BioWare has been asked several times about whether or not Mass Effect could become an MMO. In an interview published this weekend, they once again said they were open to the idea.
A couple years back Game Nerds got excited when F.E.A.R. 3 developer Day 1 Studios started work on a steampunk Batman game called Gotham by Gaslight. Concept art for the cancelled game was uncovered in January and today a gameplay video was released.
Justice League #6 Preview Written By Geoff Johns and Jim Lee Art By Jim LeeJustice League issue 6 wraps up the first story arc that brings Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Cyborg, Aquaman, The Flash and Wonder Woman together as a team to fight a formidable foe — namely Darkseid and his minions from Apokolips — and lays the groundwork for the future of the group.
BATMAN: ODYSSEY VOL. 2 #5 Written by NEAL ADAMS Art and cover by NEAL ADAMS What did Batman expect to find on his Odyssey to the Underworld? So far it’s been nothing but tragedy. Once The Dark Knight took the first step, the world he knew was gone. Will Batman become the thing he most loathes: a murderer? Each step takes him closer...
DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon was one of my favorite films of 2010, and now TV Nerds are getting a TV show based on the movie called, "Dragons." The show has been in the works for a while now, but it’s finally set to air this fall on Cartoon Network and the first trailers for Dragons have gone online. The trailers are actually interspersed with a bit of footage from the movie, but the TV scenes are pretty evident when they pop up (ie. TV animation ≠ film animation). Executive producer Tim Johnson previously talked a bit about their direction for the show early last year:
Scranton, Pennsylvania and the offices of Dunder-Mifflin are about to get a lot less cool. EW has word that James Spader, who has been playing the perplexing and intimidating Robert California, will be leaving The Office after becoming a series regular for just one season. Spader himself decided to leave the show, and I can’t say that I blame him. This season has been wholly unremarkable despite Spader’s best efforts and mostly entertaining appearances, but the NBC comedy series just doesn’t have the heart or comedy that Steve Carell brought every week. Of course, even in the later seasons with Carell still on board, the show was beginning to lose its flare.
Well this Movie Nerd is pleased with The Avengers' newest one sheet. But this brand new poster is just the tip of the ice-berg. Yes Marvel has assembled a brand new one sheet, and yes it is awesome, but what I really want is the new trailer which should be coming out any day now. But this new poster will have to do.
Movie Nerds are getting two new TV spots for Wrath of the Titans which you can check out below. This Titan sequel picks up a decade after the last movie, I guess that means everyone sat around and played checkers for ten years? Anyways, Wrath of the Titans is looking good and I hope it's better than our last go around the Greek Gods playground.
Just the other day Movie Nerds got a big gift in the form of Star Trek 2 movie set photos, and now Splash has sneaked off the set some behind the scenes video. Unfortunately the video is narrated by this annoying sounding guy, but hey, I'll endure for Star Trek 2.
Well you know it's a slow day for Movie Nerd news when I'm showing Avengers Movie ticket promos....hehehe. The tickets are featured on the official site for Sentitype Collectible Movie Tickets. Some of them are pretty cool, like the group shot.
I've never been one to out-right hate the Prequel movies. Were they as good as the original trilogy, overall no. But there are plenty of worse movies out there, and when compared to say...Catwoman, the Phantom Menace is a masterpiece. But this guy has some good ideas on how to, "fix" the Phantom Menance, and with few changes actually. Here him out below, because it doesn't sound half bad.
AMC has confirmed that Britisher David Morrissey (“State of Play”) will play “The Governor” in the 16-episode third season of “The Walking Dead."The Governor, who rules the Woodbury survivors, will presumably serve as lawman Rick’s chief adversary once Shane Walsh gets eaten.
I loved Avatar: The Last Airbender, I was totally hooked from the first episode. So when I heard that they decided to continue the legend with a sequel, I got my hopes up high. So here comes this trailer, and it's oriented for kids....not adult fans, so hopefully this series works across ages like the first one.
So over this last summer I watched this awesome Super Nerd documentary called, "King of Kong," which is on Netflix if you want to see it. While watching it I learned a load of things about the Nerd world I didn't know prior.
Implantable medical devices will eventually dispense drugs, get rid of blood clots and perform micro-surgeries inside our bodies, but powering them could be problematic. If the point is to have minimally invasive gadgets keeping tabs on our health, cutting patients open to swap out their batteries is not an ideal situation.
EA is giving Game Nerds a sequel to their 2010 reboot of the Medal of Honor series. Medal of Honor: Warfighter, revealed in the latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine, will be coming to stores this October.
You read that right. The Bleach anime series will be ending at the end of next month, on March 27th.The news was first found in a Japanese TV listing, and then confirmed by Bleach animation director Hiroki Takagi. Come April its Tuesday timeslot will then be taken up by a Naruto spinoff, Naruto SD: Rock Lee's Youth Full-Power Ninja Chronicle.
Movie Nerds are getting more Rock in there movies these days. But that isn't a bad thing, in fact I say more Rock is healthy in a Movie Nerd's movie diet.
TV Nerds have been watching Andy rise up the office ladder over the last few season. Wait who am I kidding, I didn't see Andy taking over as the office manager, and more than likely you didn't either. But I think Andy is like a younger version of Michael Scott, at least they're pretty close.
Movie Nerds meet the new Robocop. Jose Padilha's reboot of RoboCop looks to have found its lead as Deadline reports that Joel Kinnaman ("The Killing," Snabba Cash) has been offered the role of Officer Alex Murphy (played in the original by Peter Weller).
These are the first images of anything related to J.J. Abrams' next Star Trek movie. It looks like Spock (Zachary Quinto) is using the ole' Vulcan Neck Pinch, and Uhura (Zoe Sladana) is standing on top of a building maybe? It's hard to tell what's going on, because so little has been released about Star Trek 2, that I can't but these bad boys into context.
It was just days ago we were talking about terminator vision becoming a reality through contacts, but Google is announcing that augmented-reality smart eyeglasses before the end of the year! But if you think you're going to be donating your wallet, your wrong. These glasses will be in the $200-$400 range. Let the future begin!
Usually, a new game is announced via press releases, trade show unveilings, or even cryptic website countdown clocks, but not the next Metal Gear Solid title. Instead, the world has become aware of the existence of a new MGS project thanks to a webpage on which Konami states that "Bigboss wants you! The "next" MGS".
Holy Cow...Comic Nerds are getting a treat today. Want to see just about every cover for every comic Marvel is releasing in May? Do you really, really, really want to see just about every cover for every comic Marvel is releasing in May? Are you sure...... Ok...ok....I'll give you every cover of just about every comic Marvel is releasing in May. Might take you awhile though...hehehe
Pixar has released a new poster and clip for their upcoming fantasy movie, "Brave."Brave's synopsis: Determined to make her own path in life, Princess Merida defies a custom that brings chaos to her kingdom. Granted one wish, Merida must rely on her bravery and her archery skills to undo a beastly curse.
Tons of Movie Nerds have been going to IMAX to see their favorite movies these days. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't The Dark Knight kick off that trend? Anyways, James Bond is getting his turn in IMAX when Skyfall is released.
I loved the original Clash of the Titans, you know the 1980s version....no...no...no....not the one with Sam Worthington. The most recent remake just didn't do it for me. The only thing they got right was the look, which was spot on perfect. But the story was garbage, and the sense of adventure was lost.
Has it been that long? Remember American Pie, the movie that took young twenty something by storm in 1999? Well the dreaded High School Reunion is a perfect place to bring back the original cast for the latest sequel "American Reunion." With American Reunion coming this April it's about time we Movie Nerds get a trailer. Check it out below, and tell me if they've brought back the old magic.
It happens to the best of us, there just comes a time in a Super Nerd's life that the giant collection is just too big. Usually we sell it on Ebay, or have a yard sale, but sometimes our collection is too big for those outlets, and this is what Michael Rorrer has discovered. Michael Rorrer said his great aunt once mentioned having comic books she would one day give him and his brother, but it was a passing remark made when they were boys and still into superheroes.
In 2010, researchers discovered that the moon has been contracting over time. The shrinkage is making the moon shrivel like a raisin, creating features called wrinkle ridges all over its surface. That shrivelling makes sense, because the moon's interior should be gradually contracting as it loses the heat from its violent formation more than 4 billion years ago. Similar wrinkles have been found on Mercury.
The James Webb Space Telescope may someday put Hubble out of business, but until then NASA’s old standby is still making new discoveries. Today, that comes to us in the form of the first exoplanet “waterworld”--a water-covered planet shrouded by a dense, steamy atmosphere, the first confirmed planet of its kind.
Microsoft recently brought in the newest build of Kinect Star Wars, and we got our hands on and bodies into some of the new modes. From dancing feet to feats of destruction, Kinect Star Wars tries to cover all the bases when it comes to taking you into this epic series. While we’ve gone lightsaber to saber before and taken the checkered flag in pod racing, these new modes take the game in a completely new direction as we burn it up on the dance floor of Jabba’s Palace and take control of a rancor and try to wreck a budding empire. These new additions had us working up a sweat while having a little fun along the way.
Space Battleship Yamato 2199 anime series helmed by Yutaka Izubuchi (RahXephon), Nubuteru Yuki (Escaflowne) and Makoto Kobayashi (Battleship Yamato Resurrection) has released about four minutes of footage for your Anime Nerd eyes!
TV Nerds have breathed a sigh of relief now that The Walking Dead Season 2.5 is back on the small screen, and one thing is obvious, zombies are awesome. So much time is put into making the zombies look as real and scary as possible, and the people at The Walking Dead make some of the best zombies in the business. Proof of such is the fact that the TV show won an Emmy for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup last year.
Movie Nerds got a big treat when they went to see Tropic Thunder, and that was Tom Cruise's character Les Grossman. Easily the best thing to come out of that convoluted mess called a movie, Screenwriter Michael Bacall was set to write a spinoff film for Tom Cruise’s Les Grossman character. But little has been mentioned in such a long time that we're starting to wonder, is it still happening?
If you've been following this site, than you know I'm one Movie Nerd excited about the new James Bond movie, "Skyfall." This year promises some of the biggest movies to hit the big screen including, "The Dark Knight", and "The Hobbit." But the I would have to say "Skyfall" is right near the top of my "must see movie" list.
The next Die Hard movie titled, "A Good Day To Die Hard" (which is a cool title, but for some reason makes me chuckle...hehe) has roped in Jai Courtney as John McClane's son.
How much would it cost to actually build the Death Star? This question has plauged Super Nerds for generations. Well someone has finally done the math, and they have made Nerd News.
Nerds across the US will now have some Doritos flavored tacos to go with their 2-liters of Mountain Dew. Next up on Nerd News: 84 Super Nerds have died while consuming nothing but Doritos Tacos and Mountain Dew for 3 months.
A flood of new information has been revealed with a full overhaul to the official website for the TV anime adaptation of Koki Yoshimune's Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse novels. The TV series will be airing this summer and will be animated by ixtl and Satelight. The series will be directed by Takayuki Inagaki (Desert Punk, Rosario and Vampire) with Yumiko Hara doing character designs, Jin Aketagawa as sound director, and Kenji Shinohara and Rondo Mizukami as animation directors.
TV Nerds are getting their first look at the upcoming TV series Tron: Uprising. The ten part series is set to air this summer on Disney XD, but Disney has finally released their 2011 Comic-Con preview. Though a few snippets have been shown here and there, this is the first time the full preview has been out for public viewing.
I love James Bond and it's been too long without a new Bond movie, so it's so nice to see that SkyFall is doing a great job of handing us fans info and images. We've also been promised an upcoming video tomorrow showing some behind the scenes footage, but to help pass the time we've been give this photo of "M" hard at
Movie Nerds and Book Nerds for that matter, have been waiting patiently for their favorite book turned movie to hit the big screen. But to help easy the wait MTV spoke with Elizabeth Banks about what scenes excited her the most.
BioWare has cooked up an interesting scheme to promote Mass Effect 3's upcoming launch. They're going to load up six weather balloons with free copies and set them loose across the world.
